A World Named
'Relatio' Once upon a time, in a mysterious world named Relatio, there lived two sets of people. The lov and the ers. The lov enjoyed exploring all manners of their existence while the ers seemed to just exist and not bother much with the reasons for their existence. This lead to much turmoil between the two peoples. Over the ages both sets of people tried to understand the other so they could live in peace and harmony. Unfortunately, the ers were physically stronger and attempted to dominate the world. The only recourse the lov had was to seek better ways of thinking their way through the situations that the ers created. The lov found that they could not match the physical endurance of the ers and wound up living in what most would call submission. The only problem they faced was that they had found over the years that neither people could survive without the other. However, there were always those from both sides that viewed things differently. This a story of two of them and how they changed that world. John, one of the ers, was simple in his thoughts and explanations of how he viewed the world. Like most of the ers, John was very proud of his people. He often spoke very loudly about how the lov could never seem to understand his people. He used to complain that whenever he talked to one of the lov it was like they never heard a word he said. His explanation was that the lov were just not intelligent enough to recognize a good thing when they were offered it. Jane, one of the lov, was also considered a simple person by the lov. She was always complaining much the same as John, only it was about the ers. She could not understand how the ers had even managed to survive with their attitudes and careless treatment of others. Her only explanation was that the ers were so selfish that they didn't care to hear any of what the lov had to say. One day at the market, Jane came upon a podium that had been setup to voice problems that people thought should be addressed. The podium was simply named, The Circle. Jane was totally fed up with the ers attitude and thought, "Why not, I am going to blast the ers at the market for once and for all." Jane stepped onto the podium and began to complain about the ers and the way they cared so little for the lov.
It just so happened that John was passing by this day. John's outrage grew to such an extent that he walked onto the podium and began a debate with Jane. This debate was such as nobody had ever heard in public before. Most had been afraid to voice or even address the things John and Jane were debating. As the debate grew, so did the crowd - and before long most of the people from Relatio were in attendance to see who would win this debate. The crowd, obviously, was very divided and there were more than numerous comments from them. Jane looked at John and said, "Why is it that everything we tell you about our people you do not believe?" John replied, "It is simply because what you say does not make sense. Why is it that when we tell your people something that you just act like it is not worth considering?" Jane stopped and thought for a moment, she then turned to John and said, "Well, it is simply because your people have done nothing but make fun of us when we are deeply hurt by your actions." John looked at Jane and replied, "Hah, so you think you are the only people who get hurt. Many of your ways have upset my people tremendously! I remember about two months ago one of your people stated that it is always the ers that cause the trouble for our land." Jane just smiled at John, for it was all she could think to do. This infuriated John and he began to rant about how the lov were always playing games with the ers and how they should learn to be more honest and then perhaps the world would be a better place. Jane in turn began to yell at John that he had no idea of what he was talking about. "It is the ers who play the games - and it is the ers who always wind up walking away and carrying on like nothing is wrong," said Jane.
At this point the crowd was almost at a point of riot. Each side was yelling at the other and each side was threatening never to have anything to do with the other again. Up to this point, John and Jane had not even noticed the crowd. John and Jane both turned and looked at the crowd and were both very saddened by what was happening. John turned to Jane and said, "Look, this is not what we want, is it?" Jane replied, "It certainly is not, why is it that we cannot solve this problem?" John, stopped and thought for a moment then replied, "I truly do not know, we are both intelligent people and we both care about the other side, whether we state it or not." Jane smiled and told John, "I think you just answered the problem". All of a sudden there was complete silence. The crowd was hushed and all eyes were on Jane and John. John looked at the crowd and laughed, "I think they just answered it as well!" Jane looked at John suspiciously and then a look of understanding came across Janes face. She too began to laugh and most of the crowd looked at them perplexed. As always, there was someone in the crowd who just had to stir it up. There was a comment yelled from the crowd that John was a traitor. The ers fell into complete silence as John turned to face the crowd. His outrage was quite evident, and Jane could tell that he was about to explode at the heckler from the crowd. Jane quickly stepped up, put an arm around John, and said, "Don't let one person destroy this little bit of wisdom we have come across today." John's outrage quickly subsided and he looked at Jane and said, "Well, let me at least explain what we were talking about to them. I do not want our people living like we have been any longer." Jane agreed with John that he should explain it, and also added "I don't know if you can in such a way that my people will understand it though." John replied, "Well, if we don't try, we can never get better at it can we?" Jane had to smile at that. John turned to the crowd and began to relate what he had discovered during his debate. The following is what John said: "We have been blaming each other for the things we do not understand ourselves. We have chosen for years to disagree with each other on almost everything simply because we did not want to be hurt or have our ego's damaged. Instead of looking at the possibility that we may have some personal issues we need to sort out, we choose to blame the other side. We never truly try to explain what we are feeling to the other because the other side always becomes defensive and retaliates. But, we cannot dispute one simple fact: Our world cannot survive with out both of our peoples. The ers claim the lov are not smart enough to know what is good for them and thus hurt the lov in ways we are not willing to look at ourselves. The lov do exactly the same thing to the ers. This results in our people constantly blaming the other because they have been hurt. Let me ask you this, when the season of production comes about, do we, ers, just randomly select a lov for the purpose of populating our world? No, we go through many steps to find the one we would like to work with to raise the children of our world. Are our children not equally important to both the ers and the lov? Yes, that is why we all agree we have to find someone who we join with for this mutual purpose. Why, I don't think we should be separating our children, at birth, based on their anatomy at all. I think we should be creating a new world where our children learn from each other. This way both of our people can learn to get past this problem we have been facing for all these years." The crowd was murmuring to each other and didn't really know what to make of what John had just said. Although, there did not seem to be much in the way of heckling going on. Jane decided she would step up and try and explain a little further.
The following is what Jane said: At this point John stepped forward and stated, "I, too, am willing to try. Would you be willing to try with me Jane?" Jane turned and looked at John and said ,"Yes I would John, but the name is Jane Hope." John smiled and said "Well, Jane Hope, glad to meet you, my name is 'John Of'" John and Jane looked at the crowd and amazement set in. Both sides were actively introducing themselves and trying to talk things through. As they watched, two people walked forward with a sign in their hands. They were well know to both sides as outcasts, for one was a lov and one was an ers and they had broken the taboo by residing with each other. The crowd looked at them as they walked up, and many in the crowd stopped themselves for issuing the standard jibes they were used to throwing at this couple. It just did not seem to apply any longer. The couple walked up to the podium and placed the new sign upon it. This is how it read: "THE 'LIFTED HEARTS NETWORK' DEDICATED TO OUR NEW PEOPLE, THE 'LOVERS'" Hugs at ya all and keep up the good work. by MoonDog
